National Guardsmen go to a remote base for routine training exercises. Thank God for a break in routine. They run into a batch of well-defined mutated characters who have their own underground society in mountainous caverns reminiscent of Afghanistan hideaways, yet this is the heart of America. Much friendly exchange of friendly fire with fellow citizens who happen to be tough-minded, murderous mutations ensues. This is the inevitable outcome of evolution theory.
